Types of Broadband Connection Available to the Public

It is a fact that broadband Internet exists in more than one form to cater to the many different needs of the public. There is a broadband connection that is customized for the use of the average user, and there is also a variant that is created to answer the needs of the corporate body. Find out more about each of these types of broadband Internet.

The first type is the DSL or the digital subscriber line. There are two types of DSL and these are the symmetric and asymmetric. The first has equal rates for upload and download while the asymmetric does not. ADSL connections are more common among the home-based consumers, and have higher speeds for downloading than uploading. In any case, DSL connections utilize frequencies that will not conflict with voice calls.

Another type of broadband connection is the T-1 connection. This type is intended towards the corporate audiences, and is in fact highly regulated in some countries. These connections even require written contracts to be installed because of the regulations that govern them. Because of the more demanding needs of a business, T-1 offers very high data transfer rates about 20 times faster than DSL.

Last but not the least is the Wireless Internet or more famous known as the WiFi. Instead of utilizing cables, the technology implements the 802.11 WiFi radio frequencies in order to transmit and receive data. This is utilized by laptop users and is readily available in certain establishments like hotels, motels and malls, among others.
